Dont buy a Land Rover from Charlesworths or US Car Support Ltd T/A Auto Direct Import in Derby

I am in dispute with Charlesworths or US Car Support Ltd T/A Auto Direct Import in Derby over a new Land Rover Discovery HSE that I purchase at the end of July this year. Brief details are as follows:

I purchased a Landrover Discovery which I was assured had the 3 year Landrover unlimited manufacturer´s warranty with recovery for £29,995. I then found out when trying to get warranty repairs done that there was no warranty.
Then Tim Charlesworth then promised in writing to ""mirror the manufacturer`s warranty word for word and honour any claims arising throughout Europe” while the warranty issue was being clarified. I took the car into a Land rover dealership gave the dealer a pro forma and they are now refusing to honour this.They have not reimbursed me for repairs I had to have carried out which should have been covered by the original promised warranty or the subsequently promised "mirror”.
< I want to keep the car but I want a warranty or compensation for lack thereof and I want them to reimburse me for the repairs I have paid for so far. They refuse to agree and have asked me to return the car but will only reimburse me £25,000 instead of the full £29,995.

I have full details – names, dates, list of vehicle faults, copies of correspondence, etc

Hi, I am considering buying one from them via ebay, they told me that they are in disput with Land Rover over the warrantys, but until they get it sorted US CAR SUPPORT LTD T/A AUTO DIRECT IMPORT would mirror the Land Rover warranty, are you saying that the warranty of Charlesworths is of no value?

Charlesworths does not honour its warranty with me

Hi, and thanks for your comments, yes you are right, they gave me a letter promising to mirror the Manufactures warranty, and now he wont honor it, i was made to look stupid with the dealer as I was told to get the work done, and they would pay the dealer direct, when he knew the cost of the warranty repairs, he said he would not pay, and told me to bring the car back, but he wanted to give me £5,000 less than i paid for it! So i had to collect the car from the dealers, pay them for work that had been done out of my own pocket, and currently I have to use a faulty car, which will not start when warm! I would reccomend that neither you or anybody but a car from US CAR SUPPORT LTD T/A AUTO DIRECT IMPORT as in my experience they cannot be trusted.

Warranty

Hi, I am in the same position, puchased a Freelander 2 from US Car Support T/a Auto Direct Import in August 2009 and was just told by a dealer that the car does not benefit from the manufacturer's warranty. Just read James Ruppert article in Autocar, about left hand drive Land Rovers being sold without warranty, so I suppose that he cant mention the dealer by name, but i take it that he is refereeing to the cars you and the others bought from US Car Support T/a Auto Direct Import, have you not spoken to the police, it looks to me like fraud?

Hi, thanks for your email, yes i confirm that we have been in touch with James Ruppert who published this article in Autocar, we are just looking to put a group together to commence legal action as a joint group, I am also putting together a document to pass to the police based upon all of the fact because i also consider that this is fraud, will keep you all posted of developments.

Auto Direct Import Derby

Hi, looks like we are in the same position here in Germany as our local dealer has refused to accept any warranty work on our LR FL that we purchased in May 2009. LR in Germany advise that the car is not registered as sold by LR in the UK!!!! Can you let me know what your latest info is also?? Class Action

Hi, we are putting together a class action with currently 3 other clients of CHARLESWORTHS, Global Car Source, Auto Direct Imput etc, Initially dealt with James Rogers, then Tim CHARLESWORTH please let m e have you phone number to discuss further. In my opinion CHARLESWORTHS, Auto Direct Import have sold loads of these cars illegally stating that they had manufactures warranty when they know full well that the did not, ( we have proof from the company which supplied them)

Land Rover Warranty

I have had the same problem. I bought a Discovery V8 (300 miles on the clock so delivery mileage) from Charlesworths and imported it to France. I was assured the waranty was valid. The Seat motor failed and should have been covered by the warranty. The Land Rover dealer showed me the screen saying the warranty was invalid. I was also told the car was a cancelled US order. The screen in the dealer said it was a Russian car. Do any of you have contacts at land rover that you have spoken to?

Discovery HSE engine fire

My 2005 Discovery HSE caught on fire after a year and a half of use and was puerhased new from a Land Rover dealer. The dealer repaired it under wattanty but wanted to put up a fight. In their shop they switched the radio and the tires and other parts and now it has electrical problems and the list goes on. Land Rover is irresponsible with its customers. Never again. If anyone knows of engine fires in the Discovery please write.

I would suggest that all who use this site should collectively see if a legal action could be taken against landrover to have them taken to account for their treatment of all of the customers here

Buying a range rover for 28k then some how went up

Hi - I called up us car support and found I was speaking to a very rude man. I didn't catch his name but he sounded like an old man who beats his wife and abuses his children every night. Any how - I decided to call this company because I saw a 2009 4.2 range rover sport on for 28k with only 39,000 miles on the clock (I had all the cash in the bank)so I thought wow this cheap! I put an offer of 27k and he turned around and said "listen pall, what 09 plate do you know on autotraider" I replied "none...what are you trying to say?" he then said "you know what you londoner- why don't you have a look in the mirror and see if this car really suites you" "your going to have to pay VAT on top too". Then he hung the phone up. I called him back again and he kept on being rude for no reason. I really felt like a victim! They sound like a bunch of hillbilly cowboy traders, who are unwilling. I had a think about it and all that was going through my head was DODGE. If I can help the legal battle move forward please let me know. Charlesworths - I would NEVER deal with again

I have apurchased a car from these crooks.. I dealt with the main man TIM CHARLESWORTH and his side monkey called LLOYED. Now im a simple customer, likes a car and pays the money.. But these idiots made this simple deal soo difficult, it became a personality issue. Tim makes regular visits to Japan, not no longer as he was caught in a brothel with some very young ladies. I would NEVER deal with these crooks again!
